Splashing the cash to get to number one

Singapore: The launch today of the maritime news title, Splash, brings together a unique network of journalists around the world.

At a time when most media titles are cutting spending on overseas correspondents, Asia Shipping Media, the publisher of Splash, has committed to sourcing original content from experienced journalists across five continents, providing exclusive intelligence and local knowledge.

Among Splash’s correspondents are:

Shirish Nadkarni – India’s best-known maritime journalist. Shirish’s past career has included stints with Lloyd’s List and Seatrade.

Holly Birkett – Splash’s award winning online editor has edited a number of publications before working for Asia Shipping Media. A mad keen shipaholic, Holly recently travelled across the Indian Ocean courtesy of Maersk Line. She takes her Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers exam next month.

Hans Thaulow – Splash’s Oslo correspondent has been covering the shipping industry for the last 15 years. As well as some work for the Informa Group, Hans was the China correspondent for TradeWinds. Prior to that one of his previous jobs was with brokers, Simpson, Spence & Young.

Donal Scully – Splash’s man on the ground in California, Donal has 28 years experience with newspapers around the world.

Jason Jiang – Splash’s senior China correspondent has broken many exclusives in his time working with SinoShip, another Asia Shipping Media title. Splash is able to draw upon SinoShip’s exclusive network of 12 correspondents across Greater China.

Camelia Ewiss – Camelia has been the bureau chief of another Asia Shipping Media title, GulfShip News, for the past couple of years. A Cairo native, half Egyptian and half Italian Camelia is able to call upon existing stringers in Doha, Dubai and Muscat for Splash.

Other Splash writers are based in Bogota, Dalian, Genoa, Hong Kong, Perpignan, Shanghai and Singapore.

Comments editorial director, Sam Chambers, “Splash starts out with a global network of hugely qualified, experienced, no-nonsense journalists. In the coming 18 months I anticipate we will add another three journalists in key areas to ensure we are truly the number one global site, updating news and views 24/7 from multiple time zones.”
