Star Bulk demolishes another Panamax

Athens: Star Bulk has sold a bulker, Star Tatianna (69,600 dwt, built 1993) for demolition.

The Panamax vessel should be delivered to its unnamed buyers sometime in the next couple of weeks, the Nasdaq-listed company said in a release today.

This is the third vessel Star Bulk has scrapped since the end of December 2014. In January, the Panamax bulker Star Julia (70,100 dwt, built 1994) was sent for recycling in India.

The demolitions are part of the company?s broader fleet renewal and expansion project.

Star Bulk has 34 vessels are currently under construction, mostly in China with five being built in Japan. The majority will be delivered this year, with nine scheduled to arrive in 2016.
