Star Bulk launches dry bulk commodities logistics venture

Greek dry bulk owner Star Bulk Carriers has expanded its offering to include dry bulk commodity logistics with the launch of new subsidiary Star Logistics Management.

Based in Geneva, Star Logistics will be headed by Leonidas Giannakopoulos and will focus on servicing the end user by connecting the origination and destination of dry bulk commodities.

Petros Pappas, CEO of Star Bulk, commented: “Star Bulk is excited about forming this new venture, as we believe we have to diversify our commercial platform to meet the challenges of the dry bulk market and to enhance shareholders’ value.”

Star Bulk says the new venture will expand the commercial capability of the company through additional commercial expertise and advanced tools to provide it with access to considerable cargo flow and market information.
