Statoil awards accommodation contract for Johan Sverdrup field

Master Marine’s subsidiary Jacktel has won a contract to provide accommodation services at the Johan Sverdrup oilfield from Statoil, the field’s operator, over an 18-month period from June 15, 2018.

The contract is worth $178m for the firm period. The charterer also has five optional two-month extension periods.

Jacktel’s self-elevating jack-up accommodation rig Haven will provide 400 beds for workers during the installation and commissioning period of phase 1 of the Johan Sverdrup project.

To ensure required capacity for working at the Johan Sverdrup field, Haven will undergo an upgrade related to strength and length of the legs including provision of new spud-cans/suction-caissons,” Master Marine said in a filing today.

The upgrade cost is estimated at around $100m; work is expected to be performed at a yard in Norway.
