Statoil suspends Songa Offshore rig contract

Songa Offshore has announced that Statoil will suspend the contract for Songa Enabler when work at the current well at the Snöhvit field in the Barents Sea is completed around the end of November.

The expected resumption of drilling operations is currently scheduled foe the Blåmann well in April 2017. Statoil is working to revise their drilling schedule with a view to the earliest possible date for resumption of work. The rig will go onto a 75% suspension rate of $343,000 per day in the meantime.

Songa Offshore said it will minimize the overall financial impact through the suspension period with reduced manning and reduced activity levels.
