Stolt-Nielsen subsidiary Stolt Tankers has bolstered its fleet with a pair of modern 15,000 dwt stainless steel chemical tankers.
The vessels built in 2018 and 2019 respectively will be named the Stolt Condor and Stolt Tucan and join Stolt Tankers’ Inter-Caribbean service.
The company said it expects to take delivery in the second quarter of 2023, without disclosing further terms of the deal. According to VesselsValue data, the ships in question are the Turkish-built Preveze 1 and Chemical Atlantik, worth a combined $54.2m.
“This acquisition is an excellent opportunity for Stolt Tankers to secure attractively priced on-the-water tonnage in a firming chemical tanker market. These are modern, fuel-efficient ships and will further lower the age profile of our fleet,” said Lucas Vos, president of Stolt Tankers.
The Dutch-based division of Oslo-listed Stolt-Nielsen operates a fleet of 166 chemical tankers. The new additions will be retrofitted with propeller boss cap fins, variable frequency drives, torque thrust meters and KWh meters to make them even more fuel efficient and lower their carbon footprint, the company added.
