Stricken A2SEA vessel capsizes off Denmark

A2SEA has announced that wind turbine installation vessel Sea Worker has capsized off the Danish coast due to harsh weather yesterday morning.

The vessel ran aground last week after it snapped from its tow line while being taken to Esbjerg from Frederikshavn.

A2SEA said no pollution has been detected in the waters surrounding the vessel and the company focus remains on preventing any leaks.

A special operations team and vessels Esvagt Connector and Emile Robin are onsite, while environmental vessel Gunnar Seidenfaden is on call in the Port of Hvide Sande ready to respond if needed.

A2SEA said the next step will be the removal of all oil and fuels from the vessel as soon as weather permits.
