Swire Bulk taps Western Bulk’s Aarvold to take over from Andy Kidd

Swire Bulk has tapped Western Bulk’s Rob Aarvold to take over from Andy Kidd as general manager of the Singapore-based line.

Aarvold had been senior vice president at Western Bulk in Singapore since 2010. Previous employment included a stint at brokers Simpson Spence & Young and six years at Swire Bulk sister firm, Swire Shipping.

Kidd started out as a broker working for the likes of HSBC and Wallem before spending eight years with Pacific Basin. He joined Swire Bulk in 2012. He is now on gardening leave through to the end of August ahead of a new assignment.

Sam Chambers

Starting out with the Informa Group in 2000 in Hong Kong, Sam Chambers became editor of Maritime Asia magazine as well as East Asia Editor for the world’s oldest newspaper, Lloyd’s List. In 2005 he pursued a freelance career and wrote for a variety of titles including taking on the role of Asia Editor at Seatrade magazine and China correspondent for Supply Chain Asia. His work has also appeared in The Economist, The New York Times, The Sunday Times and The International Herald Tribune.
