Tacloban port to be temporarily managed by ICTSI

Manila: The port operator International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI) is to temporarily manage Tacloban port as tons of typhoon aid from other counties arrives on the scene, the Philippine Ports Authority said.

“We have dispatched our equipment, which should arrive in Tacloban by Tuesday. By then, the port will be fully operational,” said Christian Gonzalez, ICTSI head of the Asian region.

ICTSI is to deploy P200m cargo handling equipment, and run the Tacloban port for free. The company will continue the operation until the close of the government’s relief operations and a normal transportation network has been restored. [18/11/13]
