Tailwinds before the storm

April proved benign. Conditions are set to worsen shortly

During April, panamax and capesize sectors felt tailwinds as some of the darkness in the market vanished.

The main South American grain export terminals were more than able to keep on loading incoming ships. Wheat, corn and soybean meal from Argentina and landslide soybean exports from Brazil made room for operators to ask for and get higher rates through the month.
