Tanker collision off Japan

Japanese authorities spent Sunday cleaning up a big tanker smash off Kehin Port in Kawasaki prefecture.

The Eastern Phoenix was slightly damaged when it collided this morning with the product tanker Keihin Maru 8, which was breached on its portside. Bunker fuel leaked from the product tanker Keihin Maru 8, and early reports suggested the ship was sinking.

A salvage firm has been deployed and investigators are looking into how the accident happened.
