Tanker explodes at repair yard, up to seven dead

Shanghai: Four people have died and three others are missing after an Indian oil tanker exploded at a repair yard in Zhejiang Province this morning.

The tanker, capable of carrying 50,000 tonnes of oil, was being repaired by seven men at Haizhou Shipyard in Zhoushan when an explosion and subsequent fire was reported at 7.30 am. The fire was put out by midday and rescuers continue to search for the missing men.

No cause of the accident has yet been reported.  [28/01/14]
