Team Tankers International announces new leadership

Oslo: Team Tankers International, the restructured version of Eitzen Chemical, has announced its new board of directors today, two days after receiving approval for listing on Oslo Børs.

Mads Meldgaard has been appointed chairman and managing director of the new outfit. Meldgaard spent more than ten years with Teekay, and in between running his own capital investment firm was the ceo of Herning Shipping, and was involved in combining Herning with another Triton company, Nordic Tankers.

Gavin Kagan, Tom Higbie and Danielle Leone also join the board which also includes the notable appointments of Bob Burke and Jesper Bo Hansen.

Burke founded Ridgebury Tankers in early 2013 where he has built up a fleet of 15 vessels, made up of seven suezmaxes, two aframaxes, and six product tankers. In 2007, Burke formed Chembulk Tankers with US fund AMA acquiring a chemical tanker fleet from US shipping firm MT Maritime Management, and then offloaded it the following year to Indonesia’s Berlian Laju Tankers.

Hansen, another tanker industry veteran, spent more than seven years at Torm and more recently was managing director of Star Tanker Inc, the tanker pool run by Heidmar operating panamax/LR1 tankers.

Meldgaard, Hansen, Burke and Kagan were elected to serve until the next annual general meeting in 2015, while Higbie and Leone will serve through to the 2016 annual general meeting.
