Technip to lay off entire workforce at yard in Finland

Technip Offshore is laying off its entire workforce of 476 people at its Technip Pori yard in Finland, reports YLE.

The company attributes the layoffs to a lack of new orders, leaving no work for its staff. The shipyard said that in some cases the workers will be laid off for a fixed period, while in other cases the layoff are permanent. It did say however that the layoffs could be reversed if it gets new orders.

Pori employs 288 workers, 61 office staff and 127 managers. The workers will be sent home from October 17, while supervisors will be laid off from the end of the month.
