Teekay sells tanker pair to New Shipping

Teekay Tankers has agreed to sell two of its tankers to Adam Polemis led Greek owner New Shipping.

One of the two is the ship linked to an oil spill last month in San Pablo Bay north of San Francisco.

That vessel, the Yamuna Spirit is a suezmax and the other ship being sold is the 2002-built L2 Ganges Spirt.

Earlier in October Teekay sold the last of its MR tankers, Hugli Spirit, to Norway’s Champion Tankers AS.

US Coast Guard’s (USCG’s) investigation of a mystery September 20 sheen in San Pablo Bay could not determine whether the oil responsible originated from the Yamuna Spirit or the Phillips 66 refinery in Rodeo where the cargo was unloaded.

But USCG’s tests did match the oil on the water to the product that had been carried by Yamuna Spirit.
