TEN orders two suezmaxes at Sungdong

Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN) has ordered two new suezmax tankers at South Korea’s Sungdong shipyard, brokers tell Splash. No contract price for the order has been disclosed.

The two 158,000-dwt crude tankers were ordered this month. Yard Intel has the delivery dates as December 2017 and February 2018 respectively.

Splash has contacted TEN for comment but no-one was immediately available at the time of writing.

The Greek owner has eleven 112,700-dwt aframaxes under construction at Daewoo Mangalia in Romania for delivery in 2016 and 2017. Also at Sungdong, TEN has a suezmax shuttle tanker being built for arrival in 2017, and two LR1 product tankers set to hit the water in late 2016.

Maria Energy, TEN’s sole LNG carrier newbuilding, is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter 2016.
