Teo heads back to Dalian

Singapore: Pacific International Lines of Singapore has returned to its favoured yard in China, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co, for four 3,8000 teu ships. The shallow draught ships are likely to be deployed on Asia – Africa trades and are costing in excess of $40m per unit. The ships will start delivering from 2014. PIL, run by SS Teo, has strong ties in Dalian, ordering many ships in the Liaoning city over recent years, and forming a jv ship recycling firm with DSIC and a local steel mill. [27/08/12]
