Thai shipping line drops Manila due to congestion

Manila: Congestion at the Port of Manila, Philippines, has prompted Thailand-based Regional Container Lines (RCL) to drop the port from its RBC4 service.

The line will also cease from calling at Batangas from this month for the same reason, RCL said.

The RBC4 route is being altered to provide a stable and reliable service, said RCL in a statement.

As of December 20, 2014, the new 21-day RBC4 service will be: Qingdao, China – Shanghai, China – Cat Lai, Vietnam – Laem Chabang, Thailand – Qingdao, China. Three 2,500-TEU vessels will be deployed on the service, RCL said.

RCL is launching a new Laem Chabang-Manila shuttle service with two 2,500-TEU vessels in a partnership with Mitsui OSK Line, RCL told press.

The line says that congestion at Manila is still bad, though not as bad as was seen in August, reports say. [15/12/14]
