Thai tanker ransacked by pirates

Bangkok: A diesel tanker, Orapin 4, owned by Thai International Tanker, with 14 crew aboard, arrived at Chon Buri’s Sri Racha on Sunday night after being hijacked and its cargo stolen by pirates on its way from Singapore to Indonesia.
The Royal Thai Navy confirmed the ship hand anchored at around 7.30pm last night.

Pirates boarded the tanker and destroyed all communications equipment and stole the cargo and other valuables. The tanker was left with sufficient fuel to return.
The ship had set off from Singapore to Indonesia last Tuesday and all contact with the vessel was lost on Wednesday sparking a large search for the ship.  [02/06/14]
