Thoresen Thai Agencies is continuing to expand its supramax fleet with the acquisition of the Tsuneishi Cebu-built, Spring Eagle, reaching out to Japan’s Nissen Kaiun hoping to finalise a deal. The active buyer is laying down just over $15m for the ship, according to brokers, who note that the final details of the deal are still to be finalised.

At the end of October Thoresen paid just under $14m for the 2009 built Songa Marlin, taking it from another the fast growing owner, Norway’s Songa Bulk, while in July it added a 2008-built similar sized ship, Crystal Palace from another Japanese owner.
