Thoresen Thai returns to Santoku Sanpaku for supramax addition

Thoresen Thai Agencies is continuing to expand its supramax fleet with the acquisition of 2008-built bulk carrier Crystal Palace from Japanese owner Santoku Senpaku.

The purchase price for the 2008-built supramax vessel is $13m and it has been renamed Thor Confidence.

Thoresen Thai said the acquisition is part of the company’s ongoing fleet renewal plan and its short-term objective is to have a mix of handymax and supramax vessel. The latest purchase has increased the fleet of Thoresen to 21 vessels.

In May, Thoresen acquired 54,000dwt supramax bulker Karaweik from Santoku Senpaku, now renamed Thor Future.
