Three Emas Offshore vessel charters terminated

Singapore offshore support vessel operator Emas Offshore has been served notices terminating the bareboat charter of Lewek Arial, Lewek Lynx and Lewek Alkaid.

All three charters are guaranteed by parent company Ezra Holdings, which filed for bankruptcy protection in the US earlier this year.

In each case, the vessel owner has cited various termination events and breaches of material obligations of the charter caused by Emas Offshore and requested that the vessels be redelivered at safe anchorage in Singapore.

Emas Offshore said it is seeking legal advice in respect to the termination, however is concurrently working to negotiate new commercial arrangements for the vessels.

The owner of Lewek Ariel is listed as Marina Morganite Shipping Limited, while Lewek Lynx is owned by Marina Moss Shipping Limited and Lewek Alkaid by Marina Tanzanite Shipping Limited. All three of the owning companies are based in Malaysia and their listed address is care of Emas Offshore Services (M) Sdn Bhd based in Labuan, Malaysia, a place well known for laying up vessels.
