Tim Huxley stars on Splash TV: ‘Contrarian’ views on bulker buys

Hong Kong: Tankers look “set fair” in the coming months and the fact bulk carriers have fallen in price so much might make them a decent purchase, says Tim Huxley, ceo of Wah Kwong Maritime Transport, in the latest installment of Splash TV, although he admits the latter is a contrarian view.

Huxley told Splash last week that Wah Kwong, the family run shipping line controlled by the Chaos, was looking at making some opportunistic secondhand bulker buys, the company’s first secondhand acquisitions since the 1960s.

Smaller containerships, he also says, “look pretty interesting”. Huxley is also the head of his own Hong Kong shipowning vehicle, Mandarin Shipping, which has invested in a series of smaller boxships.
