Tim Ponath takes over from his father at NSB

Tim Ponath will take over from his father, Helmut, as the CEO of German shipping company Reederei NSB from the start of next month.

In 1985 NSB Niederelbe Schiffahrtsgesellschaft & Co KG obtained its independence. Helmut Ponath led the company from originally two ships to become one of the largest German shipmanagers until it hit hard times, like many others in German shipping, earlier this decade. In 2015 he started the restructuring of the company and the brand NSB Group was established. At the same time it opened up maritime service branches overseas in Sri Lanka, China and lastly in Indonesia.

The upcoming management changes also see NSB veterans Markus Thewes and Dirk Kleinekampmann appointed as chief commercial officer (CCO) and chief financial officer (CFO) respectively.
