TMS Cardiff orders LNG carrier at HHI for long-term Total charter

George Economou’s TMS Cardiff Gas has confirmed an order with Hyundai Heavy Industries for a 174,000 cu m LNG carrier, with an option for a second vessel.

The vessel features dual-fuel propulsion and is scheduled for delivery in 2020, when it will go onto a seven-year charter with Total Gas & Power Chartering.

Christos Economou, founder of TMS Cardiff Gas, commented: “We are delighted to secure a new long-term time charter with TOTAL, one of the leading global energy companies. TOTAL is an important customer for TMS Cardiff Gas and we look forward to providing them with first class LNG shipping services as they continue to expand their LNG activities.”

The company said the option for an extra vessel is a reflection of its appetite for further growth in the sector.
