Innovation is key to success, believes Robert Joore, the new general manager of marine lubricants supplier Total Lubmarine. Speaking in one of his first interviews since taking the helm at the French firm, Joore tells Maritime CEO: “As a business we can never afford to stand still, and we believe that innovation is the key to success.”
Understanding which lubes are compatible with their engines and fuels has always been a challenge, arguably never more so than today.
“Working out which lubes are the best fit for vessels trading in and out of ECAs while at the same time matching increased and complex OEM requirements, has become a real headache for ship operators,” Joore explains.
At the start of the month Total Marine Fuels Global Solutions signed a three year memorandum of understanding to ensure that compatriot containership operator CMA CGM would be able to meet the latest low sulphur regulations by supplying it with LNG, 0.5% sulphur fuel and 3.5% sulphur fuels for use in ships installed with scrubbers. The agreement also covers the supply of lubes suitable for all fuel types.
“We will continue to focus our efforts on providing practical solutions to real life problems,” Joore insists.
