Tourists die in Thai ferry disaster

Bangkok: Six tourists died and another 15 were injured in the latest ferry accident to hit Thailand. An overcrowded ferry capsized yesterday while heading from Ko Lan to Pattaya in the east of the kingdom. More than 200 people were crammed onto the vessel when it capsized about 150 km southeast of Bangkok.

Local reports suggested that the double-decker ship encountered engine problems soon after departing Ko Lan, sending tourists rushing to the second floor as the first floor flooded.  [04/11/13]
