Trader held on bribery charges

Dubai: An Asian trader attempted to pay Dh28,000 in bribes to a customs employee at Dubai’s ports to release a contained seized by the port inspectors for containing banned items.
The inspector told the prosecutor that he accepted a smaller sum from the Asian dealer to release a diesel shipment for him as part of a trap set by the police.
The trader and four of his friends have been arrested, tried and are awaiting sentence.  [16/11/14]
