Dalian: Trafigura has extended its series of 206,000 dwt newcastlemaxes at Qingdao Yangfan to a total of six vessels, having exercised two further options both for delivery in the first quarter of 2017, according to a weekly market report from shipbroker Clarkson.
The Geneva-based trader made the initial order for new vessels to empower its newly bought dry bulk hub in Brazil in January.
For Qingdao Yangfan the orders have been a breakthrough size-wise. Previously the largest ships the yard had handled were bulkers up to 185,000 dwt. [08/04/14]
