Trafigura Beheer fixes Geden tankers on timecharter

Four MR1 chemical/product tankers owned by Geden Lines have been fixed on three-month period charters by trader Trafigura Beheer at a rate of $10,250 per day, brokers say.

The Turkish owner’s 37,900-dwt tankers Steel, Stone 1, Style (all built 2008) and Sky (built 2007) will commence their respective charters at the beginning of May.

The rate is a discount on MR rates in the spot market currently. Today, the Baltic Exchange assessed its MR Atlantic Basket rate at $13,347 per day, a $183 increase on Wednesday and the first uptick seen in almost two weeks. The basket is comprised of the two trans-Atlantic benchmark routes for MR product tankers.
