Transgrain charters Diana panamax bulker

Athens: Transgrain Shipping (Rotterdam) has taken one of Diana Shipping’s panamax bulk carriers on a nine- to twelve-month timecharter, which has been fixed at a lower rate than its previous employment.

The Clio (73,691 dwt, built 2005) was fixed at a gross daily rate of $6,500, minus 5% commission for third parties. The charter period should commence in mid-August.

Diana expects the contract to generate around $1.75m of gross revenue for the minimum nine-month charter period.

In March, the Clio concluded two years’ of employment with Cargill. The vessel was originally fixed in February 2012 at a gross daily rate of $10,750 for 18 to 24 months.

In July 2013, this was extended for another 21 to 24 months at a reduced gross rate of $8,600 per day.
