Transocean drillship secures more work with Petrobras

New York-listed offshore driller Transocean has seen its charter deal with Brazil’s Petrobras for the ultra-deepwater drillship Deepwater Mykonos extended until January 2025.

The Swiss-based owner and operator of 37 rigs revealed in its latest fleet status report that the state-run oil giant had exercised an option to keep the 2011-built floater on a $366,000 per day contract. The extension kicks off in November 2024, in direct continuation of its existing fixture.

The rig, which has been on contract with Petrobras since 2019, is currently earning $224,000 per day. The new dayrate will become effective in October this year and run through to January 2025.
