Transocean secures semi-submersible contract from Quadrant Energy

Offshore driller Transocean has been awarded a contract by Australia’s Quadrant Energy to drill the Phoenix South-3 well offshore Australia.

The contract is for one well and is expected to commence between February 1 and April 1 2018 using the company’s semi-submersible rig GSF Development Driller-1, which is is currently cold stacked in Spain.

The financial details of the contract were not disclosed.

At the end of May, Transocean sold its entire jackup fleet including 10 rigs in service and another five newbuildings to Borr Drilling for a total of $1.35bn.
