Trelleborg Marine Systems shifts headquarters to Dubai

Singapore: Redolent of the busy port construction scene in the region Richard Hepworth, business unit president at marine fender maker Trelleborg Marine Systems, is set to move to Dubai in mid-July.

“We have in place a series of strategic priorities that will enable us to reach our growth targets by 2018,” he told GulfShip News on the rationale for the move from Singapore.

“The Middle East and Africa are key to our growth and, in fact, one of our strategic priorities.  We are wholly committed to expansion in the region, and as such, the new global headquarters for the company will be based in Dubai,” Hepworth revealed.

Trelleborg relocated its headquarters to Singapore in 2010 to ensure a closer proximity to its manufacturing facilities in Singapore and China.

“Now this network is firmly established,” Hepworth said, “I need to be in a more central location in order to be able to best meet the needs of all areas of the business. The business demands more resource in the Middle East and so we’ve had to adapt quite quickly to relocate our headquarters to the region.”

At the beginning of May, Trelleborg moved into a brand new office facility in Dubai, in the Jebel Ali Free Zone. The facility is newly built and has conference facilities, as well as a warehouse.  [23/05/13]
