Trucking ruling creates delays at Vietnamese ports

Hanoi: New regulations on vehicle loading capacities are seeing long delays in and out of many of Vietnam’s ports with Cat Lai suffering some of the worst queues.

Trucks are being thoroughly checked to see if their weights do not exceed what is stated on their vehicle registration certificates, following a new ruling sent to port authorities from the Ministry of Transport.

Thai Van Chung, Secretary General of the Vietnam Goods Transportation Association, said he has received many complaints from member companies about delays at Cat Lai.

The ruling is designed to ease congestion in connecting ports and stop damage to nearby bridges.  [01/10/14]
