TS Lines rekindles boxship ordering plans

Taipei: Taiwan-based TS Lines is looking to restart newbuilding plans for four 1,800 teu containerships this year, according to T.S. Chen, chairman of TS Lines.

The company originally planned to order four 1,800 teu containerships in 2011. However, predicting newbuild prices would drop further, the company delayed the newbuilding project and used the funds to purchase offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Xiamen.

TS Lines currently runs over 40 shipping routes, with 40 ships in operation, including three owned ones.
