TS Taipei oil spill cleanup to take one week

The oil spill cleanup of the TS Taipei in northern Taiwan will take another week to be complete, the ship’s owner told Splash today.

TS Taipei ran aground on March 10 and 21 crew were evacuated from the ship. Two weeks later it split in two near Keelung in Taiwan, amid stormy sea conditions, and some heavy fuel leaked from the ship.

Currently more than 450 people have been deployed to clean up the oil spill.

The central government of Taiwan also called all the relevant government agencies to provide necessary assistance to accelerate the cleanup process.
