Tsuji Jiangsu commences LNG-powered cargo vessels

Shanghai:Tsuji Heavy Industries Jiangsu has started building the world's first LNG-powered sea-going cargo vessels, with owner NOR Lines and DNV among those attending the launch ceremony.

NOR Lines, with the support from the Norwegian’s Authorities and close collaboration with Rolls-Royce Marine, have developed this LNG -powered vessel with the aim to reduce emissions and save energy. Compared to the traditional diesel engine, the new design could reduce emissions by around 40%.

The contract to build the two 5,000 dwt vessels was signed in October 2011 and construction begins this week.[31/08/12]
