Manila: Tsuneishi Heavy Industries (Cebu) (THICI) Inc has opened the Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Academy in the west of Cebu.
THICI president Hitoshi Kono said the opening of the academy will help strengthen the country’s shipbuilding industry.
The academy is currently training 29 THICI employees for three months on shipbuilding and related processes, and there are plans to train non-Tsuneishi employees in the future.
THICI, founded 20 years ago as a spin off from the original yard in Japan, employs 13,000 people and has delivered 185 ships since its founding. [28/04/14]
