Turkish authorities question master who insulted Erdoğan

A Panamanian-flagged bulker, Salix, was forced to dock by the Turkish coast guard while it was transiting the Dardanelles yesterday after its Turkish master was reported insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in radio communication.

The coast guard ordered the captain to hand his duties over to the chief mate and to dock the ship on the north coast of Bozcaada.

Authorities claim the captain was reportedly intoxicated and has been questioned by a prosecutor.
