Typhoon causes traffic chaos in the Visayas

Manila: More than 3,000 people have been stranded in various ports in the country due to Typhoon Haiyan, the Philippine Coast Guard said Friday. Around 155 vessels have been barred from leaving ports due to the rough seas from one of the biggest storms of 2013.

Yesterday the local port authority suspended operations at 16 ports, predominantly in the central Visayas region of the archipelago where the typhoon hit.

Haiyan is expected to head towards Vietnam next.  [08/11/13]
