UAE port worker accused of spying

Dubai: An employee at one of the UAE’s ports has been arrested on charges of spying for another country.

The man, from an unspecified Asian country, is accused of taking instructions from a contact abroad and exploiting his position at the port to collect classified information.

Ahmed Al Dhanhani, the State Security public prosecutor, said it had secretly monitored the man at the port. He is in custody pending further investigation and the case has been referred to the state security division of the Federal Supreme Court.  [04/06/14]
