UASC boxship set to break records at Genoa

Voltri Terminal Europa container terminal is ready to receive and accommodate the Al Dhail, a boxship that will break every previous dimensional record for the port of Genoa. The ship, owned by United  Arab  Shipping  Co (UASC), has a 15,500 teu capacity and is expected to reach the port in northern Italy on Sunday marking a new era of ultra large container carriers calling Italy’s top gateway terminal. The previous record of the port was set by another UASC boxship with a 13,500 teu capacity last summer.

Voltri Terminal Europa, which is 60% owned by Singapore’s PSA International and 40% by Gruppo Investimenti Portuali (a joint venture made up of several local operators), in the coming days will also receive four new quay cranes manufactured by ZPMC.
