UASC opens agency in Switzerland

Dubai: United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) will open a new agency office in Switzerland on January 1, 2015.

The agency, UASAC Switzerland, will be a subsidiary of UASAC Deutschland and will take over all agency activities from Fiege Logistics, which has represented UASC in the Swiss market for the past 24 years.

UASC says the change in representation in Switzerland “will unlock access to several new markets for European customers, in general, and for Swiss customers, specifically”.

The new Swiss office is of strategic importance now that UASC is part of the Ocean Three alliance with Germany-based Hamburg Süd and French shipping line CMA CGM.

“The Swiss market is growing rapidly and this represents a great opportunity for UASC to further strengthen our presence and improve customer accessibility and services,” said Detlev Kerber, vice-president of the UASC Europe Cluster, in a statement.

“We believe that establishing a wholly-owned UASC presence in the Swiss market will enable us to directly understand our customer requirements and build enduring relationships that deliver tangible business results.” [15/12/14]
