Ultramar sells three in three months

Chile’s Ultramar Group is busy in the sales and purchase market. This week sources tell Splash that one of its two bulker outfits, nine-ship strong Ultrabulk has just sold its third Japanese-built ship in just as many months, offloading the 2015-built handysize Ultra Tolhuaca for $17m including a five year time charter attached.

The deal follows the sale of a one year older sister ship, Wellpark, to UK owner Denholm Shipping, bringing its handysize fleet down to two ships.

In December the Von Appen family controlled outfit also sold an ultramax newbuilding to Seiho Kaiun for $28m.
