Union Maritime adds to bulker fleet with order at Cosco

UK tanker specialist Union Maritime is growing its fleet of bulkers, placing an order for two plus one 63,000 dwt bulk carriers at China’s Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry, the shipbuilding arm of China Cosco Shipping.

The vessels will be constructed at Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry’s Yangzhou yard, formerly the Jiangsu yard of China Shipping Industry. Other contract details were not disclosed.

The two parties are also in talks to form a long term strategic partnerships for more newbuilds in the future.

Union Maritime currently operates a fleet of 33 tankers and three bulkers.
