Unique offloads two

Hong Kong’s Unique Shipping has been busy this week pruning its fleet. The privately held firm run by the Cheng company has sold the 16-year-old  Rainbow Quest MR product tanker to Greece’s Ocean Gold for around $10m, sources tell Splash as well as the 13-year-old Japanese-built 176,347 dwt Unique Brilliance capesize to unspecified Greek buyers for $9.5m.

The conservative Hong Kong owner tends to keep a low profile. Founded in 1966, Unique is run by Edmund Cheng, the son of the founder.

On its site, Unique says it has 15 ships – a mix of capesizes, product and chemical tankers plus five LPG carriers. It also has one VLGC on order.
