Unwelcome container data surprise

There’s strong evidence the container market has plateaued.

As the Shanghai lockdown enters a fifth week, liner companies are starting to miss out the port from their schedules, hoping to avoid ships getting stuck in quarantine and making pointless calls as cargo is not getting into the terminals. According to logistics monitoring firm FourKites, as of April 14, intermodal cargo moves out of Shanghai were down 41% month-on-month while deliveries into Shanghai port for onward shipping were down 72%.
