Upper Egypt ports set for upgrade

Cairo: The latest large infrastructure development plan announced by authorities in Cairo is aimed at developing natural resources in Upper Egypt. As part of the plans Safaga Port will be upgraded to be able to handle a variety of cargoes including containers. The aim is to make the port capable of handling 30m tonnes a year.

Abu-Tartor Mining Port is also set to be renovated so that it can handle up to 12m tonnes a year.  [27/11/14]
