Vale confident its ships will enter China soon

Rio de Janeiro: The head of Vale’s iron ore unit, Jose Carlos Martins, has dismissed Beijing’s latest port restrictions as “technical” and something that will be resolved over time, Reuters reports.

The ongoing spat between the Brazilian miner and China over access for its fleet of giant 400,000 dwt vessels saw its latest twist last week with Beijing enforcing restrictions whereby ships above 250,000 dwt cannot call in China.

"We're leaving this to China and we'll await their decision," Martins said during a Brazil-China Business Council meeting in Rio de Janeiro yesterday.  [18/02/14]
